Hiab is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of truck-mounted cranes. A quick production process and quick changeovers between different products are important. With improved assembly equipment, Hiab was able to achieve both improved speed and flexibility. Knightec developed a tool to install the bearings that enable the cranes to rotate. The difficulty lay in the fact that the tool had to suit several different kinds of crane, be ergonomic and at the same time easy to change. For Hiab it wasn’t enough to have a consultant with the right competence, the fact that Knightec and the consultants were available was equally important.
